Taylor McFerrin and Austin Peralta

Taylor McFerrin and Austin Peralta Live 03.03.11 from Theo Jemison on Vimeo.

Taylor McFerrin and Austin Peralta Live 03.03.1 at Little Temple Los Angeles, Ca.

Evenings.

I'm astonished at the amount of quality music that exists. I'd happily pay for any of it and honestly that seems to be the point. We live in a fast pace, nothing is still, move, move, move, what have you done for me lately society. But if you give something away for Free it gets people's attention. Add quality into the mix and people will remember you once it is time to shell out a few dollars. I don't know much about Evenings except that his free E.P. has had my speakers hostage for the past few days. Definitely worth a free download.

Toro y Moi vs. the ever so strange Tyler the Creator. = HEAT.

STATELESS

Flawless. One of many words that pops into my mind. I wasn't aware of Stateless until later last year. Matilda has just been released and it's jumped immediately to my tops of 2011. It is seriously ridiculous and if you don't get this album, your doing yourself, your ears, and all of the people you will proceed to tell as a result of it - a great disservice.

Teams vs. Star Slinger..? They can"t make something bad.

IS INTERNET MAKING MUSIC BETTER?
No, Real talk though...Music is at a very good point. I was thinking about this today. People used to put up with some awful shit. When I only had the radio and the music press to base my music buying decisions, it was hard to get to hear a lot of really good things. Now, with online discussion, filesharing & social networks, blogs, etc.. I can be a lot more choosy. I'm getting to hear things, old and new, that I'd never have known about otherwise. "Live Music Discovery"--> Things like Shazam and Sound Hound apps for the iphone are fucking mind blowing, you can hum a song to your phone and it instantly gives you every bit of info from; release date to song lyrics. What about "Music Recommendation Services" such as Pandora, I Like, The filter, ITunes Genuis these things find music for you in a way that reflects an individual’s tastes and moods through unique algorithms. Shits endless.
So, the musicians themselves are in the same position, able to be exposed to so much more great stuff than they ever were previously. And maybe this gives them ideas, and makes them make better records.
I like to think so, anyway.

Take advantage of the internet.

Every so often music in general takes a turn for the better and starts getting really good. Now is that time!
